The Spanish Barb is the horse brought to North America by the Spanish explorers in the late 1500 and early 1600s. The are sturdy, well built horses and average 14.2h. This group in a very isolated spot on a privaye ranch in New Mexico, may be one of the purest groups anywhere in the world.

At the moment this herd is protected by living on a
very large private ranch and is not available to the
public. However, in the Spring of 2009 we may be able to
organize tours for small groups out to this area. It is a
20+ mile trip on a very difficult dirt road and may
require some horseback riding to see them as well.
We will rotate the photos on this page periodically
so check back every few weeks.
